Our vision

Our vision consists of three parts:

  1. House of prayer = Praying for and with people
  2. House of bread    =Giving education in the municipality
  3. House of family   = Providing a safe place for people in the municipality.

“Our church is a place where people get to know Jesus, feel at home and secure and where everyone takes his place; where the Lord can work through his Holy Spirit and show his glory; where life and growth is to stand strong and united in the faith.”

Our vision is further based on 3 Bible verses, which form a common theme throughout our church life. These texts are also known as the Great Goal, the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. These three important messages gave Jesus his disciples when He was still with them on earth.

Specific vision of the Ark of the Covenant.

The Foundation of Christ has been revealed to the visionary of the congregation Ark of the Covenant, Reverend Melvin G. Heuvel. This study is based on the life of Jesus Christ, in which Matthew 5: 17, as a thread through this whole.

De Ark Des Verbonds heeft naast de globale visie ook een specifieke visie. Deze is gericht op Alkmaar en de omliggende gemeenten.

In addition to the global vision, the Ark Des Verbonds also has a specific vision. This is aimed at Alkmaar and the surrounding municipalities.
The vision is aimed at laying new foundations in Alkmaar and surroundings, in the near future. We believe that new churches will arise in the coming years.

The Ark of the Covenant wants to encourage people to be active in their own environment, including prayer and evangelism work. The Ark of the Covenant, will actively support these initiatives and, where necessary, plant a church.

The Great Goal (Matthew 5:17-18)

Think not that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to dissolve, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Before the heavens and the earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall perish from the law, until all is fulfilled.

The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40)

He replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. That is the greatest and first commandment. The second is the same: love your neighbor as yourself. These two commandments are the foundation of all that is in the Law and the Prophets.”

The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)

“So go on and make all nations my disciples, by baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to abide by all that I have commanded you. And keep this in mind: I am with you, every day, until the completion of this world.”

Global explanation of the aspects of this vision

1. Getting to know, Jesus (twofold)

A. Evangelising:
Every member of the congregation is a witness. Evangelization seminars and campaigns.

B. Teach:
The practice of Jesus, teaching the members; in other words: to give his love and way of life a place in our lives. We must be conformed to Him! This happens both in the home circle and in the joint Bible study and preaching.

2. The municipality must be a safe place:

This is highly dependent on how we interact with each other, how we think and speak about each other. Gossip, wrong thoughts and statements break through the wall of security that the Lord has built around us.

That also means self-discipline and discipline in the municipality. Here, love becomes visible in practice. Another facet is looking at each other. This gives a feeling to the municipality to be involved and to receive or give attention. The righteousness of God must come to this.

3. Where everyone takes his place:

That is to say, that we give the gifts and talents, both natural and spiritual, the opportunity to unfold. Also encourage service, both in the municipality and in society. After all, we are a ‘salty salt and shining light!’ The home circle is the practice of these things and of the functioning of the gifts.

4. Where the Lord can work through his Holy Spirit and show his glory:

The first aspect is worship::
Surrender to and dependent on our Heavenly Father. The worship team has an important task to take the church with, in praise and worship.

The second aspect is healing::
The LORD is our physician. Praying with the sick. In the touch of the sick person by the Lord, the Lord shows his power and glory.

The third aspect is the operation of the Holy Spirit;
Through the gifts in the individual members, as mentioned in 1 Cor. 12.

5. Where life and growth is to stand strong and united in the faith:

There is only life when the Lord Jesus Christ is central, for He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

He can provide growth:

A. quantitative growth:
He can move people to join the congregation. Leadership in the personal life of the people.

B. Qualitative growth:
Letting the Word of God work in your life. Through liberation, salvation, healing and recovery, giving people the opportunity to live a qualitative life with God. Victory over the darkness.
