The gospel is by definition missionary; the gospel is the good news of Jesus for the whole world and thus also for all of Alkmaar and surroundings. The mission of the Ark of the Covenant is the mission of Jesus. We want to bring people to Jesus and Jesus to the people. We want to show who we are and what we do in Jesus. When the mission is our focus, all other elements of church life and our own faith will fall into place. Just as you learn the best, when you have to tell it.
We encourage each other to know Jesus and thus live with Him, to make life with Him the center and priority of our lives and our community. We want to focus on God and not so much on the church and on what people do. We want to honor, praise and worship Him.
We want to live consciously in His real Presence in and among us. We are a community that functions in communities where the gospel is central.
Our mission is reflected in the words that Jesus himself spoke in Luke 4: 18,19.
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed me; He has sent me to preach the gospel to the poor, to heal that is broken in heart, 19 to preach to prisoners release and to blind sight, to send slain men away in liberty, for the year of the good pleasure of the Praise the Lord.
But if you think that the higher-end Scripture only refers to Jesus, then I have good news for you. He says in John 14: 12,13: 12 Verily, verily, I say to you, he who believes in me will do the works that I do, and he will do greater than these, for I go to my Father. . 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. These words of the Lord Jesus are our mission statement.
